Open Thread: Movies that would have been better in a different format

(by chris the cynic)

By now everyone is probably sick of talking about movies, so today is the last one.

What are some movies that you think would have been better if they’d been something other than movies? (E.g. they would have been better as books, comics, oral poetry, theater, tv show, miniseries, interpretive dance, a series of crayon drawings, and RPG adventure, video game, board game, bed time stories, amusement park ride, et cetera.)

Why do you think they’d have been better in the other format?

Hmmmm. If I may make a suggestion, next time have an open thread with several of the questions. That way people can answer the one that interests them and if the same open thread is up for a while people can actually have conversations.

I’ve gone on record, twice, as saying that I thought Tron Legacy would have been better as a TV series because it would have had time to address all of the things it could barely touch on in the movie (e.g.hey, there’s a resistance, we don’t have time, rocks fall they die.)

    Time the first.
    Time the second.

There are various movies that I think would have been better as games because movies only have one true way for things to be (save the multiple endings of Clue) where games can let you see what would happen if things were done differently.

That’s a tough one, because most of the time I think the other way around and see a possible movie in books, games, etc.
But the last time I thought about this was when I saw Django Unchained. It just seemed to me that it could have been much longer and it would surely be great as a TV miniseries.
