Writer Workshop

(Posted by chris the cynic)

Those of you who also frequent Ana Mardoll’s Ramblings will find this somewhat familiar.  Here, as there, it was requested that there be a regular post to talk about writing projects (and other artwork-creation). Thus this post exists.

What are you working on? How are you feeling about it? What thoughts and/or snippets would you like to share? How does your activism work into your art? What tropes are you hoping to employ and/or avoid? Are there any questions you’d like to ask or frustrations you’d like to vent?  Writing workshop below!

    Not writing but writing-related:

How come I always (sample size, two books, but still) spot three more typos in the book after its first time through CreateSpace’s time-consuming proofing process, not before?

I am not sure licensing with Creative Commons and publishing through Smashwords are compatible endeavors. I’ve emailed Creative Commons’s info email to ask if the solution Smashwords proposed to the problem of them not wanting “you can share this ebook” language in the license in the ebook proper is a valid solution. Proposed solution: say in the ebook “you can’t share this ebook”, link to webpage that says “the licensing information in the ebook is lies”. As you may gather from my choice of phrasing, I don’t think it is a valid solution. Which means my ebook publication options are suddenly reduced to, uh, hand-format the damn thing and either pay for webhosting or beg webhosting from someone who’s got it, and cross my fingers that people will Paypal me money for it.
