Open Thread: Summer Activities

(by chris the cynic)

Not everywhere has four seasons, and not everywhere is north of the equator, but for those places that do and that are it’s currently summer.  What do you do in summer?  What would you like to do in summer?

[As a reminder, open thread prompts are meant to inspire conversation, not stifle it. Have no fear of going off topic for there is no off topic here.]

So I was just reading a Little Mermaid Disney book to my daughter for the seventy zillionth time…

And I had thoughts. Which I’m sure others have had and written about elsewhere, but they felt new to me. Except I might have forgotten one of them? Oops…

But one was that Ariel gives away the thing that pretty much everybody values most about her. In a sense it’s a test of whether Eric values other things about her, which he mostly passes, I guess?

It could be a metaphor for stuff, including “purity…” and that reminds me that I really should finish reading “Breath, Eyes, Memory” by Edwidge Danticat.

Also there was another thing, which I have forgotten.

    Ugh, summer.

What do I do in summer? Suffer.

What do I wish I could do? Go somewhere it isn’t summer.
