Writer Workshop December 24th, 2014

(Posted by chris the cynic)

Those of you who also frequent Ana Mardoll’s Ramblings will find this somewhat familiar.  Here, as there, it was requested that there be a regular post to talk about writing projects (and other artwork-creation). Thus this post exists.

What are you working on? How are you feeling about it? What thoughts and/or snippets would you like to share? How does your activism work into your art? What tropes are you hoping to employ and/or avoid? Are there any questions you’d like to ask or frustrations you’d like to vent?  Writing workshop below!

I am making a big push to try to finish The Very Soil (my third book, a critical study of Puella Magi Madoka Magica) today. Failing that, I’ll make a library trip Saturday to wrap it up.

I plan to spend much of tomorrow writing the next chunk of Faultless, a.k.a. That Thing With the Girl Named Ghost.

Alas! The library closed early, and is closed tomorrow and Friday as well. (Thanks Obama.) It seems my book will not be finished until Saturday.

Trying to work up the spoons to write; this time of year is, for me and many people, a very soul sucking one even if nothing bad happens. Presents did cheer me up a bit (giving, as much as or even more than receiving).

Fun fact, depression rates soar around this time of year; Christmas is one of the most miserable days of the year. I think it’s that ‘You have to be full of cheer! revel with all your friends and family (that you may possibly not even have)! and look, the new year is coming up, see how much you’ve accomplished (or not)!’ thing that reminds people of all the things that are bothering them.

Probably combination of that, forced association with toxic family members, and low light levels.

Stardust: I hear that. Also I’m possibly sick, which is not at all improving matters.
