Writer Workshop May 6th, 2015

Those of you who also frequent Ana Mardoll’s Ramblings will find this somewhat familiar.  Here, as there, it was requested that there be a regular post to talk about writing projects (and other artwork-creation). Thus this post exists.

What are you working on? How are you feeling about it? What thoughts and/or snippets would you like to share? How does your activism work into your art? What tropes are you hoping to employ and/or avoid? Are there any questions you’d like to ask or frustrations you’d like to vent?  Writing workshop below!

    Finally started the Kim Possible Decon with a post on the theme song.

    Also regarding Kim Possible, fiction:

    In the final series finale of Kim Possible Aliens conquer Earth. It’s a two parter. At the end of part 1 Kim is abducted (from her high school graduation) and the invasion is launched. In the first couple minutes of part 2 the world is taken over and Ron goes to rescue Kim.

    At no point is there a real attempt on the part of the heroes to actually save the world or protect the people still on earth, this in spite of the fact that the people at Kim’s graduation, and the city of Middleton itself, is full of resources to do such things.

    So I wrote Graduation 1.5 where Ron tries to set up a defense and resistance before skipping the planet. Then I realized that I’d forgot to follow up on one of the people sent out so I wrote Larry makes contact to fix it.

    It’s set in an alternate version of Kim Possible that I haven’t gotten around to writing much of any of, but if I wrote it right you shouldn’t have to be familiar with said alternate version or Kim Possible itself. (Though, obviously, familiarity would help by tying significance to the names and things and such.)

    I know what I want to write. Why is it so hard to write it?

    …that said, I produced two small essays, two short stories, and a poem in the past week, and perhaps shouldn’t complain, especially as my May words-so-far exceeds my April words-in-total by a little less than the length of that second short story.

    @alexsenchai,

    I don’t know, but sometimes it just is. I’m having scene transition problems myself. One scene is basically wrapped up, but I need somehow to handle the transition to the next one anyway and the words just aren’t coming. 😦

    So we can be together in trying to figure out why our words have gone on strike.

    Working on a deeply scary nonfiction book. Trying to find a balance between detailed explanations and usable simplified versions.
