I’ve been listening to “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” “Take it easy” and “Up around the bend” to put myself in the right frame of mind for some Being more than a Simulacrum I’ve been working on. (First installment the part that has me listening to it is here.)

I’d very much like to learn to play the glass armonica, which would mean being able to get one to practice on, which would mean being rich.

I have long thought that the base guitar is under utilized, traditionally it’s used to lay a foundation on which the higher instruments build a song. When it’s allowed to come out on its own for a solo, though, I really feel like it should be the lead and thus not surrounded by instruments that tend to hide it under their higher melodies.

Best base guitar solo I ever heard was from B.B. King’s base guitarist. I had the good fortune to hear King and his band live when they came to Maine and did a concert in Augusta.

I have always had an interest in musical instruments that were different from the norm. I mentioned the glass armonica, I’d add theremin, PVC slap organs, Manzer guitars, the most famous being the 42 string Pikasso (which: 42, this is the answer Here is a picture.) There’s really no shortage of unusual in the world.
