Writer Workshop February 10th, 2016

(Posted by chris the cynic)

Those of you who also frequent Ana Mardoll’s Ramblings will find this somewhat familiar.  Here, as there, it was requested that there be a regular post to talk about writing projects (and other artwork-creation). Thus this post exists.

What are you working on? How are you feeling about it? What thoughts and/or snippets would you like to share? How does your activism work into your art? What tropes are you hoping to employ and/or avoid? Are there any questions you’d like to ask or frustrations you’d like to vent?  Writing workshop below!

Apparently I am writing many comments on the internet today. About belief and science and stuff in the Cosmology thread.

And about everything everywhere, because some days are like that, especially when the stimulant meds kick in.

Often I find that I start ranting about something and get eloquent and end up making complex and lengthy posts in blog comments or even on someone’s FB wall and then later I realize they could be collected into some kind of post but I rarely go back and do that.

So, going from momentary, impulsive inspired thinking/writing to something a bit more structure. Anyone else work similarly?

The other way around rarely works for me. But that’s the way they teach doing it to school kids…

And it does work for me sometimes when it’s an assignment, requiring more structure and little to no inspiration, especially with a time and/or length limit. Like, specifically I remember doing a very planned thing for the GRE writing test. But stuff like that is never something I look back on proudly…
