Open Thread: Late-Month Check In, July 2017

(by chris the cynic)

Sorry for this, and everything else I’m responsible for, not being on time (which would have been last week.)

What have you been doing of late?  How are you?  Are you still alive?  So forth.

[As a reminder, open thread prompts are meant to inspire conversation, not stifle it. Have no fear of going off topic for there is no off topic here.]

(checks pulse) yup, still there, not a lich yet.

Finished up my Hugo reading in time for the voting deadline.

Selling the occasional 3d-printed loot upgrade kit for the Colt Express boardgame.

Keeping just about ahead of things I’ve promised to do, trying not to promise new things.

    I am.

I can’t seem to dredge up any creativity. Or even interest in the sci-fi/space adventure books that I want to read. Somehow, it’s harder to try to read things I want to really like than things that just might distract me for a bit. 😦

I’d sort of like to see Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, in the hopes that it would cheer me up. But I’m afraid the reviews suggest that it would disappoint me in particularly annoying ways.

So, yeah, alive is about all I am at present. Which is better than the alternative, but not exactly something to write home about.

I am having the damnedest time trying to outline this novel, but I do not want it to crash and burn a couple chapters in like every other novel-length project I have attempted ever bar one fanfic a decade ago (none of which I properly outlined).
