Open Thread: Mid-Month Check In, September 2017

What have you been doing of late?  How are you?  Are you still alive?  So forth.

Oh my fucking god I have been utterly shit of late.

I’m so out of it that I end up spending a lot of time doing nothing, which sucks. And then the nothing somehow stretches long enough to eat well into the night, and I’m not succeeding at eating right, and I don’t think I’m properly hydrated most of the time, and I feel like a total failure.

And yesterday the nothing was all consuming until like ten minutes before I was supposed to be at my first foot physical therapy appointment (not the introduction, the actually working to get things in order) at a place that was two hours away. And when I tried to call them and tell them I wouldn’t make it I couldn’t get through and was planning on trying again in a few minutes but I just kind of shut down, and . . . FUCK.

And I’m barely able to write anything, and what I do write isn’t any good. Though I do have a shot Aravis piece that isn’t at Stealing Commas yet that doesn’t actually suck.

Everything is terrible and nothing is beautiful.

I hope everyone else is doing a lot better than me.

    Still alive, though.

For that matter, if anyone else needs them…

Still alive. My 89-year-old father fell today and injured his hip; we don’t yet know whether it’s broken, but he is in the hospital now. (I have been trying to care for him at home, but it is difficult to do; he really should be in an assisted-living facility).

Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts.

I’m leading a Unitarian Universalist service in a week and a half and I have approximately no idea what I’ll be saying from the pulpit. The service is on the Delphic Maxims vis-a-vis the UU Principles, and that is almost as far as I have gotten.
