Open Thread: Mid-Month Check In, December 2017

(by chris the cynic)

What have you been doing of late?  How are you?  Are you still alive?  So forth.

[As a reminder, open thread prompts are meant to inspire conversation, not stifle it. Have no fear of going off topic for there is no off topic here.]

    I gave myself a new concussion. Yay. I shall be shying away from screens, and thus not online that much, until I recover.

    Apart from that, finances.

    Last month was basically the end on the months long financial train wreck, this month is dealing with the fact that –while I survived via help from donations– I didn’t make it out with enough money to pay for the usual stuff. The big one being 27?-28? (used to be $288, but I think it went down) for the trimester’s installment of property insurance.

    If I make it to the end of the year, things should go back to normal, which isn’t good, per se, but is a lot better than this year has been.

    Would be nice if I had some happy news to share.

    Augh novel. Augh BRAIN. People keep saying it sounds good! Why insist no one will ever like it?

    Still alive. And so is my father, who as you may remember fell and broke his hip three months ago. (He is 89.) After the hospital was done with him, he was transferred to a nursing home where he will live the rest of his days. He has gained weight there (he was badly malnourished at home, due to having almost no appetite and poor short-term memory; he didn’t know when he needed to eat!) and is in other ways much better. He seemed happy enough when I visited yesterday and is liked by the people there.

    I live. I’m hoping that my creativity will return in this gap between semesters of school. (And I really hope that my schooling is not utterly pointless. Though I have discovered that creating websites in HTML/CSS is fun, so I guess there’s that.)

    I hope your head is better soon and your finances improve.

    *sprays your brain for mynocks* Bad brain mynocks! Shoo!

    @Steve Morrison

    I’m glad your father is doing better and that his nursing home is a good one.
